Clinical Director and Medical Oncologist at St George’s Cancer Care Centre since 2011.
Jim graduated in medicine from the University of Otago, and went on to complete his oncology training at Wellington Hospital. He undertook additional training in Australia with a NSW Cancer Institute Fellowship focusing on Gastrointestinal cancer and chemotherapy toxicity. Upon completion he returned to Wellington to work as a medical oncologist.
Jim moved to Christchurch with his family in 2011 and is a member of various medical organisations including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the New Zealand Society for Oncology, New Zealand Lymphoma Special Interest Group, New Zealand Genitourinary Special Interest Group, and the New Zealand Gastrointestinal Special Interest Group (previous chairman).
