Dr David Gibbs
Medical Oncologist

Oncologists are responsible for defining an appropriate care plan for each patient. They manage chemotherapy treatment, symptom control and psychological support,  and co-coordinate other components of care such as surgery or radiation treatment.

David is a graduate of the University of Otago (1990), has a Ph.D in drug development from the University of London and is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. David is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at Christchurch Hospital with specialist interest in gastrointestinal, lung and gynaecologic cancers. David is the current Chair of the New Zealand Association of Cancer Specialists, and the Medical Director of the Christchurch Oncology Research Unit. David has a keen interest in developing and participating in clinical trials to help improve the care of people with cancer.
